Heading for home, some of us flew to Tokyo, the rest to Osaka, where we overnighted at the airport for a late afternoon flight the next day. With the morning free and the help of the marvelously accomodating Japanese people, most of the Osaka group headed for the former capital of Japan, Nara, about 90 minutes away by bus. In Nara, the visitor center arranged for a most delightful student, Ryoko, to guide us on a free tour of a garden, temple, and shrine. A glorious autumn day, even in the middle of November.
