Our next stop for several days was in Beijing, government central and steeped in history. We arrived during the 16th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, so the city was spiffed up with lots of flags and security. Interesting tours to the Temple of Heaven, Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden Palace, a pedicab ride through the older city to visit a "hutong". No pictures (yet), but a long walk from Silk Alley back to our hotel allowed a couple of us to view the end of day flag ceremony at the Square, ballroom dancing on the street, and to watch as a bus ran out of gas, at which point everybody got out and pushed.
