From May 6-10, 2015, three of us met for a couple of days butterflying for two days at Indian Lodge State Park in Fort Davis, Texas, followed by three more days in Big Bend National Park. From Indian Lodge in Davis Mountains State Park, we spent quite a bit of time at the Chihuahuan Desert Nature Center and Botanical Gardens and the rest checking the area around the campgrounds in the park. From the Chisos Mountains Lodge, we focused our efforts along the road up Green Gulch leading to the Chisos Basin and several trails around the basin itself. Overall, we saw close to 50 species including three new ones for me, Texas Powdered-Skipper, Scarce Streaky-Skipper, and our trip, target Poling's Hairstreak. |
