Lower Rio Grande Valley

Pictures from a Butterfly trip to South Texas - January 5-12, 2023

It's been quite awhile since our last visit, but early in 2023 we were off again to the Lower Rio Grande Valley for some more butterflies, and would add two more species to our US list. This time Rebecca and I caught up with our Nepali friends, Sajan & Anisha, who'd been having fun there all December and into the new year. From our base at the Alamo Inn B&B, we took day trips to a number of good sites, including Santa Ana NWR, Hidalgo Pumphouse, Frontera Audubon, Estero Llano Grande State Park, Resaca de la Palma State Park, Loma Alta, Boca Chica, and South Padre with several visits to the National Butterfly Center of the North American Butterfly Association (NABA).

The following pages show some of the pictures from the trip. This first page has pictures of some of the other interesting creatures we saw on the trip, with butterfly pictures on the next page.
